Thread: My 01 Lt80

    Default My 01 Lt80

Here is my 01 Lt80 just how it was when I bought it except for the missing heel guards and the z400 front bumper.

I bought this bike for $175.00 thinking the motor was locked up. When I got it home and started tearing it down, I noticed the drive belt was broke and wadded up on the front clutch pulley. Once I put a new belt on it and lubed everything up and added fresh gas, it fired right up and ran great.

I wanted a little taller handle bars so I shortened some factory z400 bars that I had lying around and put them on. Then I didn't like the white wheels so I had to paint them black.

I replaced the factory vaccum operated fuel petcock with one from a Lt160 so I could turn the gas off when I want to, then I added a Nitro Circus decal to the nose piece and 2in spacers all around to make it a bit more stable.

This is an awesome pit bike and my 4yr old nephew gets alot of use out of it too. It has great power for what it is, but I would like to get a little more out of it ( you know how that works). I am wanting a K&N filter for it and I would also like to go next size over bore and shave the head a bit for more compression. I'm planning on disconnecting the automatic oiler and start mixing fuel myself for it. I am also planning on modding the clutches a bit to give it a little more stall. I wish I has a blue nose, seat, and tank for it to match my 250 but oh well.

You can paint the Plastic if you add the flex additive ... and have the seat recoverd ... there were soem others here doing some hop ups on these they found a guy who was pretty handy with them and I think he joined the site ? I may be wrong but I knwo they were talking about him ... I think Yeagerz was having him hopup his kids 80 ! You may wanna check with them for aftermarket stuff !

That's a nice looking LT80, I got my son one last fall a 97 though and now it has a LA sleeve big bore in it that we just finished up, gotta throw in the new starter this week and see how it goes.

Yes, please let us know how it goes. Let us know if you feel any improvement.

I replied Yesterday (or so I thought)..It went like::: I'd stick with a foam filter..
    The frame looks sweet!

Thanks for the advise. I would like to get a chrome FMF pipe for this thing but I heard they don't really help much. What is the best pipe for it? Are there any out there that are not very loud? Since it's mainly a yard bike, I don't want my nephew pissing off the neighbors with it being too loud while he rides. I somehow don't really care when do speed runs and blast down the road on my big bikes though. Haha

got the starter in and had to play around with the petcock to get fuel flowing. I had the tank off and a spider crawled up the fuel line and made a nest in the petcock. I still want to get a regular petcock but it works now. Started right up still breaking it in but definetly feels alot peppier. Next step will be the pipe and reeds. I was looking at the pipes on ct's page anyone know anything bout them?
